This beer blurs the line between dessert wine and wild ale. This wine-like beer is served still and is packed with tannins and oak complexity from a 15-month fermentation in used French oak Sauvignon Blanc barrels. After barrel aging, this beer spent two months on the pits of pluots and white-flesh peaches. Burnt Sienna in color with aromatics of sweet honey and candied tropical fruit, the flavor transitions to notes of tart plums and peaches. Not too sweet, and not too tart, this bold yet balanced beer is meant for sipping and savoring, and should age elegantly.

375 mL bottle. Amber and a little cloudy. Initially it smells like a sweet wine, but then you get some of the acidity and it is more reminiscent of a sour beer. Tastes pretty sharp. Again, it has characteristics of both wine and beer. Sourness is aggressive up front and maintains throughout. More wine like in the back end, with some sweetness and oak. Back end has some stone fruit sourness. Heavy, flat, of course, and slow to drink. Split 4 ways, which was enough. It's fascinating and I'm happy to have tried it. I even enjoyed it, though it ultimately isn't for me.
