This version of our Imperial Wild Ale Narrow Bandwidth of Reality spent two years in Sangiovese wine barrels. Aromatics of brandy-soaked raisins carry through to the palate with heavy French oak tannins and sweetness reminiscent of barleywine ale. The finish is sweet but not cloying.

Drank/rated 2/3/2024. Bottled on 8/28/2020.
I'd start with that this is almost hard to rate/review because it's quite unlike 99.9% of beers out there. If someone handed me a glass of this and asked me to blindly identify the beverage... I'd probably be thinking some sort of brandy, wine, maybe I'd think barleywine, but the fact that this beer is still as well as the huge booze nose on it would suggest something meant to be sipped like a brandy. Color is rich brown with some reddish hues - looks like a whisky (on the darker end of the spectrum). Nose is big booze, sweet, oak, vinous, dried grape skin, honey, wet hay. Taste is massive oak, sherry, funky, earthy, raisin, wine, wood, booze. Warm booze feeling and heavy slick spiritous feel.
This is a beer where you'd give it to one person and they'd give it a 1/5 and the next person would give it a 5/5. This doesn't fit in a box, and probably isn't something you'd think of having on a super frequent basis. As a thought provoking sipper, though - it's doing a great job.
