This beer blurs the lines between dessert wine and wild ale. Burnt sienna in color with aromatics of sweet honey and candied tropical fruit, the flavor transitions to notes of tart grapes and dried apricots. This wine-like beer is served still and is packed with tannins and oak complexity from a 16-month fermentation in used French Oak Sauvignon Blanc barrels. Not too sweet, and not too tart, this bold yet balanced beer is meant for sipping and savoring, and should age elegantly.

375 mL bottle. Clear deep golden. Smells of wine, oak, deep caramel, cidery acidity. Tastes of sherry and stone fruity acidity. Lightly oxidized. Wine, oak. Long oaky finish. Heavy, flat. Fascinating, at least in tiny quantities, but I don't want much of it at all.
