Can: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with light bitterness notes perceptible is OK. Taste is a mix between some dominant residual sugar notes with some citrusy hops notes, subtle undertones with some bitterness notes offset by significant malt presence. Body is full with good carbonation. A bit too heavy for my taste and hops flavours are not as pronounced as I was hoping for.

Freshly canned 1 day ago!
Pours a hazy golden color with 1-2 fingers of creamy white head with decent retention and nice lacing. The nose features all hops, pine resin and tropical fruit, a bit of grapefruit zest and a bit dank. The taste is also hop driven featuring grapefruit and resinous pine, none of the dankness from the nose and finishes with nice, dry bittering hops. Medium body and carbonation that very slyly hides the 8+%, highly drinkable. This is a bold IPA that is agressively hopped with a nice dry punch of bitterness on the finish.

Sucker Punch sounds harsh but everything about the beer looks inviting: mostly clear, super sunny amber-golden and mildly carbonated. Neither this modest appearance nor the grey can and sad label-maker sticker let on that it's actually full of bold, uninhibited, and incredible character.
There's no way this 355ml serving provides anything less than 100% of your daily recommended vitamin C - that's obvious just from smelling it. It's like all the fruits of the tropics got together for a party... and then some mean brewer rounded them up, threw them in a blender and hit 'pulverize'.
Drinking this I feel as though I should reach for the sunscreen. The glass is full of mango, pineapple, peach, cantaloupe, orange, guava, grapefruit, and pretty much any other fruit that likes it warm and sunny. The malt, while it provides the body, doesn't dare rear its head in the flavour department.
Or maybe it does and I just can't taste it - these are some seriously mouth-coating hop oils we're dealing with. The texture is thick and nectarous as a smoothie - and not a single strand of pulp was left behind. This is how I like my Double IPAs: strong, citrusy, way more 'sessionable' than they aught to be.
A Double IPA as kick-ass as this one is a sure sign that things are moving swiftly forward for this new brewery. Sucker Punch is a beer soaked in its own cockiness - as everything in this style should be - and reflects a confidence and execution rare for such young outfits. I predict more greatness to come.

Another great brew from Tooth and Nail. Amber in color and provides a super hoppy "punch". Well in line with the pacific NW IPAs, and a great beer from such a young-ish brewery. 355 ml can from the brewery. Get it while you can.
