So, what's with the Tecate reference? Only the brewer will know, I suppose. But what I do know is this is a sour wheat ale, which is enough to come as a palate shocker to anyone who only drinks Tecate. Tecato arrived in a short schooner glass instead of the commonly used shaker pint. On to the beer:
There's little head formed on top this paler orange beer. Hues of yellow attempt to break the dominance of the main color. The beer smells like soured apricot with a licorice note. Pleasant, though not groundbreaking. That's fine. The taste follows a similar route. There's a bite of apricot which has turned sour. The sourness has a sharpness and provides some puckering action. It's modestly carbonated with an extra snap of carbonation.
Middle of the pack sour ale out of Newport Beach. That's not a bad thing to have, as it provides something much different from the crowd.
