On-tap at the brewpub itself and served in a 16 ounce shaker. On to the beer:
Not sure if golden ale or washed out yellow. I'm leaning towards the latter. Topping it is a half-inch of head which has acceptable retention and leaves some spots of lace around. The aroma, as far as intensity goes, is weak. What it brings in aroma is succulent, like a sweet lemon and orange duet, but unfortunately are muted.
The mute button has been turned off, and the Evil Monkey is coming in full force, whether Chris Griffin is around or not. In fact, it comes to me as a cross between Belgian Golden Ale and witbier. The flavor leans towards the sweet side, like orange/citrusy sweet. There's a tint of clove too. A grassy note cuts through the citrus flavor and refreshes. It's a medium bodied beer, which not only is refreshing despite the 6.5% ABV, but like its stout stablemate is well worth trying.

Pours clear gold with a ring of white bubbles. No lacing. Faint yeast and fruit nose, sweet spice and malt, nothing out of the ordinary. Thin mouthfeel for a "Strong" ale. Pleasant apricot and spice taste with a decent amount of yeast esters. Dry finish. This claims to be a strong ale, which if judged as such, it sucks. As a regular Belgian pale, its good. But I just can't go above the C+ for the style.

This is the second incarnation of the Evil Monkey.
The color is a nice pale golden color with a bright white head, thorough lacing from rim to bottom.
Sweet flavors come out with the spicyness of the coriander and fruit rind. Juniper adds a touch of bitterness without killing the Duval like character. Finishing clean on the palett with a residule banana sweetness and peppery dry touch from the juniper.
At 6% it is a step up from the hefe with a bit more punch.

Consumed 04/21/08.
Medium gold with a thin skin of white foam for a head.
No aroma.
The target for the flavor here seems to be Duvel. If that's true, they did a good job duplicating it.
Sweet up front, but not excessively so. Some spiciness that's hard to pin down, then a light yeasty character. A touch of medicinal character, then a restrained bitterness follows and finishes. A little dry on the finish.
Nicely done.
