Poured into a standard pint sitting at the brewery bar after work.
A slight rosey deep copper tint perched up the off white head, releasing a barrage of grapefruit and oranges on the nose. Lacing is mild and holding up well on the side of the glass. Floating on top the remaining foam looks like a pancake that is ready to be flipped.
Pleasant citrus aroma is accompanied with a slight malt toast, a touch of grass and a bit of pine.
The malt starts in with a caramel sweetness that rolls through the palette saddled with a citrus splash fresh pine taste. Some grassy overtones are there but not to strong and are cloaked behind the malts sweet character. A sharp bitterness hangs around on the back of the tongue with residule sweetness.
A great balance for an IIP, a little lighter on bitterness than the Village Idiot IPA but this may be a due to the increased grain bill.
