On-tap at Newport Beach Brew Co.
A: Not a very pretty beer to look at. Quite turbid, brown in color, with almost no head.
S: Looks bad, but smells good. Lots of chocolate, particularly dark chocolate, with a solid nuttiness. Plenty of maltiness in the form of toffee and bread. A simple, straightforward, brown ale so far.
T: Flavor is good as well. Plenty of the same chocolate character with a more pronounced roastiness. Toasted bread and nuts along with sweet toffee. A nice caramel note and some mild earthiness.
M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.
O: Was pleasantly surprised by this beer. A pretty decent brown ale all around.
