This is a dark copper colored beer with very little head and poor head retention. Somehow, it manages to spot the glass with lace. The aroma brings to mind bitter citrus fruits, grapefruit, and lemon. A very bitter IPA, though its taste does offer a sweet sugar cookie base to mitigate the strong bitter citrus flavor. Resiny and vegetal notes look in from the outside and make their marks. It's nearly full bodied with low-medium carbonation, and sneaky alcohol.
An acceptable, yet bittering IPA to come straight out of Newport Beach Brewing.
