Double Nickel Brewing Company "Marbled Rye"
on tap at the brewery on 23 April 2016
Notes: Clear mahogany body beneath a creamy light brown head. Aroma: smoky (Beechwood?), caramel, background fruit. Flavor: smooth caramelish/rye malt, edge of smoke, soothing fruit beside a smear of alcoholic heat. It finishes dry with fruity berries and sharp but juicy apples, leafy/grassy hops, a hint of spice (alcohol? rye? maybe both?), and a dull, lingering bitterness.

The Double Nickel's Marbled Rye is without a doubt one of my favorites that TDN has to offer.
It's a dark beer brewed perfectly(again in my opinion) with a very strong taste with hints of spices and a rich smokey flavor to go with it (8% abv). Their selection ranges from lights to heavy stouts all in-house brewed. Another beer to look forward to which has fall season taste is their "Brick Face". Strongly recommend anyone who enjoys dark beers to give this one a go.

From a Grunt given to us by Greg who occasions the brewery often.
Poured lively into a Belgian tulip glass to create an average light brown frothy head that lasted nicely forming good lacing. Clear mahogany beer showing soft carbonation.
Aroma of moderate malt and grain highlights with a toasted/roasted lite spicy presence. Light hoppy resin and smoke also detected. Whiff of chocolate.
Initial flavor that moderately matches the aroma. Creamy and medium to full body that has a nice sweet finish contrasting the light bitterness. All the flavors show up in combinations or solo throughout the duration making it a very complex brew.
Cleanly fermented with definite spicy notes. Hints of smoke and subtle red hot cinnamon provide an extra level of character diminishing to a slight roast bitter.
Truly delightful and enjoyable with tons of sensual experiences yet none overwhelm. I really like this Rye beer, it’s unique and rare.
