This is a rather nice example of a hazy IPA that is simple enough to enjoy without putting too much thought into it. Uncomplicated and aromatic, but with a one-tone flavor.

Double Nickel Brewing Co. "Snow Surfer"
16 fl. oz. can "CANNED ON 11/08/22 12:42" and sampled on 12/12/22
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy golden-amber colored body rests gently beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma is fairly bright with "dank" resins and fruity notes. The flavor follows with more fruit than "dank", and with some unusual character. It's woody and herbal, almost minty in a way. I get the fruitiness first, the sweetish and bready malt second, and then cedar and herbs which linger in the finish. Let me try to break down the fruitiness first. I'm getting notes of passionfruit, sweet red berries, orange, apricot, mango, and nectarine. Then we have the other side which is floral, grassy, herbal, earthy, subtly piney, woody, and delicately spicy. The malt is basic, sweet, and bready and although I suspect that there's both wheat and oats in there I'm not clearly finding either. It's not that bitter but it finishes quite dry with the woody, spicy, earthy, and herbal/minty notes drying it. It's unusual and refreshing. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp - wow, I just got a note of coconut - and the head held up fairly well and has left a lot of thin but still present lacing behind. I'm getting more coconut now, more soft fruit, and a little less woody, spicy, and herbal character. I guess as it's warming it's changing a bit. I find it balanced, and fairly well rounded in terms of the different components being in balance, although the woodiness and herbs are a little bit much for my palate ~ that's a personal thing, I'm just noting it.
