Do you like Thin Mints?
Those are my favorite Girl Scout cookies and if you're like me, you'll look for an excuse to have them anytime. Unlike this cookie, this wasn't as sweet since lactose wasn't present here, as this reminded me more of an Irish Dry Stout more than anything else.
Much of that had to do with the full body and amount of alcohol in this, as this was quite full, light in booze, and just a tad chewy and dry. Of course, the pour was a dark brown with a full, tan head that took it's time to settle down and left a few thick hints of rings in the middle of my pint glass. That lacing was more bubbly than the carbonation as this was only light because of the strong presence of spearmint in the nose and taste, with bitter chocolate and mint chocolate chip dominating over a persistent roasted undertone.
Just a bit of milk and barley stuck around in the aftertaste as the mint was enough to keep this beer fresh and lively. Canned on 1/3 of this year, there wasn't any sediment to be seen as it held up well over the last five months. I wish that Double Nickel would distribute up to these parts, as I have to go down there to obtain their offerings. This was fun, different, and worth the effort to get, as the artful label was on par with the liquid inside the can. Enjoy this for either breakfast or dessert!
