One pint can, one clear glass liter mug and one pour it is. Even at room temperature, there's a nice off-white head instead of a mass of stark white foam on top of the brew. The liquid is richly honey-amber, reasonably bright and cloudy. There's a limited aroma, with a blend of sweet malt of some sort and some tropically charactered hops. By terms of ratings, the smell is quite a letdown from the look. This rebounds with the taste. It's remarkable how much taste there is after so little was given to the nose. There's almost no sweetness, even with a good malt backing. The little sweetness there is, is as much dependant on the alcohol as it is the starches. This tastes ideally hoppy, as it's the dominant taste of the brew and that's enough. There's some citrus, some pine and some resin within. It's complex, yet it's not transitional. It tastes the same from beginning through the finish. Here, that's not a bad thing, because the taste is largely provided by a single strain of hops. This beer is a great isolation of a lone hop that can only add appreciation for what Galaxy hops can add to an ale. In this case, the brewer caught just the right starch backbone to deliver the starring hops. There's not much glass lacing, but there's also not much of the taste of alcohol within, where it could be expected. Overall, this is an above average beer and that assessment may be shortchanging it. Leaving the specifics aside, this is a pleasantly tasty way to get an Imperial IPA's alcohol content and a single hop taste lesson at the same time.
