Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy, medium orange with a fine, one finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of orange and wheat; orange dominates. Flavor is orange, light wheat and a little lemon and orange rind. Esters and light wheat in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. My first impression of this was that the orange really dominates, although the wheaty hefeweizen base is clear under the citrus. I'm big fan of hefeweizens that have clear wheat and yeasty character, and this is not exactly that profile. On the other hand, this one really grew on me. At first I thought was more of a fruit beer than traditional hefe, but as I continued through the glass, the wheat flavors became more clear. The orange is authentic tasting and quite flavorful. This is not traditional, but quite a refreshing and tasty brew. Lots of flavor for the ABV and looks great.

L: Standard translucent gold with short head fading quickly to a ring on the glass with some lacing.
S: No orange initially, rather lemon citrus. Spicy, including black pepper.
T: Immediately blasted with sweet blood orange flavor.
F: Very silky, weak but easy drinking.
O: Currently the highest rated Crucible beer and though it’s not my style, I can understand why. This is a fruity easy-drinking Hefe.
