L: A deep black coffee appearance to complement the aroma. A short lacy head also with a nice dark hue.
S: Nicely dry and bitter. Espresso sans cream of any kind, dark roasted malts, a hint of bakers Chocolate. Charred oak.
T: Follows the nose, extra char. Well balanced and impressive.
F: Good carbonation on a medium mouthfeel. Mostly dry.
O: Pleased to find a good coffee stout in a world of pastry, milk, and candybar stouts! Nicely done Crucible. This is solid!

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger chocolate brown head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with a little biscuit, cocoa and coffee. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, dark chocolate and quality coffee. Lingering charry coffee finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A nice, dry, charry stout with really bold, flavorful coffee character. Possibly the clearest coffee notes in a stout I can remember. Most coffee stouts are on the sweet side, but this one is a good, old fashioned dry stout and I'm pleased that the coffee fits in well, as not a fan of coffee in lighter beers. Good char, good coffee. I like it. A great introduction to this local brewery. This series is for a great cause and so far the stouts have been great.
