Richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to make this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well balanced.

This is truly an Old style Beer...
Made the old way with ale yeast
Of course in Alaska it's conditioned cold... Despite it being an ale... It goes through what you could consider the lagering process...
Honestly I should revisit this one with a clean pallet...

As this is my first beer review, I was hoping for a more subtle Carmel taste but overall it falls flat. The flavor almost peaks to something great, but sadly it stops. This is close to a great beer but it has nothing that truly distinguishes it from just another typical amber. While I enjoyed it unfortunately I will not go out of my way to drink again.

Reviewed on Episode 23 of the Foam and Lace Podcast. Poured a nice amber color. Smell of malt and biscuit. Was expecting a more stronger or heavier flavor profile. To me this beer has a lighter overall taste that kept me wanting more.

Great American knock-off version of an altbier! It may not be as bitter as a traditional altbier (not that altbier is really bitter, but it has some worth noting), but it hits a fantastic note. This is such a great beer that has notes of "autumn", but it is so smooth and light-bodied with a lot of toasty and nutty notes, that makes it a great warm weather quaff. It has a level of crispness, not a lot, but enough to make it a beer that can go anytime of year, imo.

Drank the Alaskan Amber out of a tulip glass
Dark caramel color. The head was not very persistent but the lacing was good
Smelled rich with a nutty undertone
Has a deep caramel taste. Not a lot of aftertaste
Overall probably the best amber I've had so far

good beer, I didn't get the opportunity to try it when I was in Juneau Alaska but after coming back home had saw it in my local Meijer and had to try it.
I had an alaskan amber in my fridge for about a month before I went back to it, after aging it had a lot lighter of a color with some flakes in it. it smelled of nutty Carmel. and the little bit of bitterness it had before had gone away. overall it felt very good in the mouth and I could drink these again.

Deep amber in color with a rocky head dwindling to islands of foam with a little lacing.
Smells grainy with a hint of apple cider.
Tastes grainy with a spicy hop aftertaste.
Feels medium body, slightly astringent, and slightly foamy.
Overall, pretty good. Nothing special.

Pours dark amber in color with a small to medium white head on top. Smell is of caramel and light roasted malts. Strong grainy malt taste almost comparable to Yuengling.

Found a sixer on sale for $9.99 at Grocery Discount in Thousand Oaks, CA. No bottling date observed, but "best by 093025" is printed on the label. I'd not tried this for years, it was good to see the old friend again. It's a really solid amber, and makes me wonder if Firestone Double Barrel Ale is still around, as I've not seen it on shelves in my area in years. The two are quite similar, and for a change from IPA and other styles this really satisfies. It's not overly hoppy, but balanced well enough to see some quality and it has a fine mouthfeel and taste. I would not look for it often but every few months or so it's fun!

Pint from draft in Astoria, OR for a reasonable $5.25. No surprise this is a classic. Delicious, clean amber. Properly sweet and caramelized malt bill. Subtle touch of hops in the finish. So easy to drink. In fact, I think I’ll have another…
