The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year on November 1 and unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle much like fine wine.

2024 Vintage. Pours very dark brown with a thin fizzy tan head. Smell is slightly smoky. Taste is delightfully smoky with a toasted chocolate finish. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light. Overall very solid but could have been richer and heavier Not enough smoked beers out there IMO. This is a very good but not great one

Fairly thin, light tan head. This liquid is basically black. Aroma reminds one of a mild version of a beech wood smoked Schlenkerla rauchbier, and a toasted toffee with dark roasted grains, making up the smell. Sharp, dark roasted grains and medium amount of hardwood? smoke and an effervescent brightness on the side, for the taste. The smoke subsides fairly soon, for a dark toasted wood finish.

What? Can you believe i found this in a dive bar in extreme Northern Arizona other Fredonia. I have always wanted to get my hand on one of these.
The aroma and flavors are everything i was hoping for. Just the right mix of smoke, chocolate, (not too sweet) and molasses. Beautiful dark color.
But.....I get a peaty, bandaid taste.... Just like from a peated whiskey.

I thought I might be feeling this brew today. Now I'm freaking out. I need to grab any more I can find before its gone. I'm going to the store tomorrow and will see what I can find.
It pours black and fizzy. The aroma says hello, you may not have expected something this great, but you are getting it, and the taste delivers. Smokiness like the best German smoked beers. This is so good I am going to shirk a duty because I want to enjoy it nice and slowly. I wonder where that patio furniture cover blew off to. It should still be wherever tomorrow.
Highly recommended. This is a great smoked brew. I think this one was marked 2024 but you know I am retrieving the bottle from the recycling to check. I'm looking for more tomorrow.

1/19/26 (Home) (Chicago, Illinois) - Bottle Notes: 12 oz, laser date smudged but this is the 2025 release. Purchased December 10, 2025 at Beer on the Wall store temperature for $4.55 including tax. Refrigerated until opening this afternoon. 6.5% ABV Smoked Porter. Natural sedimentation may occur. Brewed & Bottled in Juneau, Alaska.
Appearance: Poured nearly all of the bottle into a shaker pint glass, yielding a generous creamy tan white head over an unfiltered near black base. Generous thin lacing and a creamy cover over the base remains after head subsides. 4.5
Aroma: Smoke forward, wood fire and smoked maple sausage the primary takeaway. Full strength and enjoyment. 4.5
Taste: Consistent with the aroma, a very nice smoked flavor, wood predominate here with slight sausage notes trailing the wonderful roasted malt and light ash flavor. Great blend, at least for this smoked beer enthusiast. 4.75
Mouthfeel: Drinks light and easy, below the listed 6.5% ABV, negligible carbonation. Very smokey, a bit dry, the sweet flavors bound for eternity by the strong smoke that leads all sensations from start to finish. 4.5
Overall: This may be the most intense smoked beer I've encountered, and I've enjoyed many over the years. If you are a smoked beer fan, this is a must grab. I am, and will hopefully encounter more down the road. Cheers Alaskan Brewing Company! 4.75

2025 vintage, poured into a stemless wine glass. Super dark body, so it's a little hard to see that this is totally transparent. Not a hint of sediment. Shine a bright enough light against it and you can see through the whole beer. Head retention is pretty weak, minimal lacing.
The aroma is very smoke forward, like bacon and campfire. A strong chocolatey roasted malt base hides subtle notes of roasted almonds, pecans and cold brew coffee.
On the palate, it tastes like dark chocolate covered espresso beans, charred pizza crust and very smoky ham. Subtle hints of black olives and cedar on the finish.
Very dry and astringent mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Leaves lingering smoke on the tongue that builds with each sip.
Easily the smokiest beer I've ever had. Very intriguing and quite good. I think this style needs to be explored much more extensively.

(2025 release) No bottle date. I see that this year Alaskan has decided to not put the vintage year date on the label. Still the same well balanced porter w/good mouthfeel & not overly smoky/roasty/burnt/charred/malty flavors.

A distinctly challenging beer not for the faint of heart. A solid porter with higher than average ABV. Smokey but not abrasively so. Campfire beer. A solid effort.

Pours a dark brown with a thick dark caramel head on top. Smell is of straight smoke from a campfire with a little roasted malts. Taste is an overpowering smoke taste with a little bit of roasted coffee. Not good to me but respectable for the variety.

Toffee colored head, fairly decent at first. Smoke, roasted malt, and wood twigs in the nose. Sweet malt on the tongue. Finish is smoked meat, long lasting malt finish. Try this beer.|11/16/2012
