Poured from 12-ounce bottle into a Riedel fluted glass. Best Before date on this sample was 8/25/18. Pretty amber colored body, with two fingers of white head that settled without leaving much of a trace. Aroma and flavor profiles are quite understated. The malt backbone is light, with fruity and very floral hop notes on the nose and palate. Good carbonation, medium light in body, mostly dry finish with a little lingering fruity tartness. A decent beer overall, but nothing earth-shaking.

A light refreshing ale with pronounced hops. I would buy it again.

Golden colored beer from a bottle...white and foamy head. The aroma is hoppy...intense and earthy hops. Some off notes...plastic and medicine. Homebrew? However, it is full in flavor, moderate malt taste. The beer is full in body and a straightforward. It is an old school classic american pale ale.

Initial impression from a bottle included in Alaskan's 2018 variety box:
High C+ / ABOVE AVERAGE
***
06/29/18:
37 IBU. 6.0% ABV. Pale Ale.
Pours a bright vibrant copper body and a frothy off-white head. ~6 minute head retention.
Aroma yields honeydew, orange, floral notes, and citrus. Not piney, resinous, or tropical. I do get some subdued oily hop notes. Aromatic intensity is average. Quite pleasant and inviting overall.
Taste is underwhelming after the promises of the aroma. Citrusy, sure, but the hop profile is wanting overall. It's pleasant and drinkable but lacks depth of flavour, hop pungency, and complexity.
Texture: medium-bodied, smooth, wet, somewhat refreshing, a bit overcarbonated. Slightly oily. Coating. Not harsh or boozy or anything, but it's uneven, changing thickness throughout.
Overall, it's forgettable work from a brewery that's ordinarily anything but. Enjoyable enough and I'll finish my bottles, but I wouldn't be devastated if this didn't make it into any future Alaskan variety boxes.
