seems like its been ages since i had or saw anything new from these guys, i like them a lot, always have, and try to keep up, but their rate of innovation seems to really have dwindled, at least in terms of what is available in the lower 48. this one is solid if unremarkable. the cold fermentation is obvious, this has an almost lager crispness to it, and even though it doesnt smell or taste like lager yeast in this (the yeast is in fact neutral or near it), it still drinks like an india pale lager to me, some back end bitterness, hop driven, fast finishing for a hoppy beer, even almost refreshing, thirst quenching anyway, fresh and familiar on the hops, slightly catty and fuel forward, some citrus juiciness in nose and taste too, without a ton from the grain. this is blonde, lighter bodied, and just off from fully dry, i think the minimal approach to the malt makes sense, keeps this easy drinking, and it is not at all unbalanced to me. hints of mandarin orange, honeysuckle, pineapple candy, lime lollipop like they used to give out at the bank when i was a kid with the rope instead of a stick, and just a little weedy dankness and oils on the palate. great carbonation, heady the whole way, drinkable as the ipa types go, quite well made. i expect this one to do well for them, very summery, only moderately bitter, modern and good.

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from the Festival Store in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It poured a clear golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had subtle citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink crisp semi sweet malt notes with subtle citrus presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a small head of white foam. The head fades slowly over time leaving a good amount of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is quite light, being strongest of a herbal and grapefruit hop smell mixed with other aromas of pine and a very light cracker malt.
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp cracker malt flavor matched with a touch of tropical fruits and a decent showing of a herbal and pine hop. As the taste develops forward, some hay and must come to the flavor profile as well as a little bit of a grapefruit hop. There is some light floral notes that develop more toward the end, combining with the rest to leave a rather crisp taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp with a carbonation level that is moderate to slightly higher. For the drier nature of the brew the feel is rather well done, making for a refreshing but flavorful sipper.
Overall – A rather nice crisp IPA with an overall well blended hop character. A good flavorful brew for a spring/summer day.

Pours a clearish corn husk yellow, foamy head from a can, slightly malty mostly citrusy hop aroma. Flavor is unoffensive but tastes powerfully of hops. It has a nice full citrus finish which turns to a malty sweet flavor and then back again to a mild/medium aftertaste of crips hops.
Overall, easy drinking "Cold" IPA that would go very good with a plate of hot wings. 3.38 rounded up to 3.5
