Our brewers are proud of this one. Brewed with an adventurous spirit, our Sentinel Strong Ale is an ideal companion for the crisp fall nights.

At 10% ABV, this is a warmer that is best enjoyed slowly and out of a glass. We brewed it with 1,000 pounds of Belgian candi syrup, premium malts, and a dash of hops to round it all out.

Rich and decadent, Sentinel Strong boasts dark fruit flavors like fig, plum, and raisin. Perfect for a rainy evening.

An impressive Belgian strong ale reminiscent of Rochefort, Delirium, Gulden Draak, and Chimay.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark reddish orange brown with thin, fine, light khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet biscuit malt, dark dried fruit, brown bread and a little dry caramel. Flavor is candi and biscuit malt, dried plums, raisins, figs and brown bread crust. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. This was an unexpected find of a single bottle in a local Total Wine; never heard of it and can't even find it on the Alaskan website. Untappd and some old archived pages on web call this a Belgian Quadrupel style ale and that definitely fits the flavor profile better than just strong ale, although Strong Ale is the name on the bottle. As a quad, it is a good one, leaning towards the Westvleteren 12 profile, with noticeable dry biscuit malt as well as the classic candi malt. The flavor depth is not as rich as that brew, but much more approachable as a domestic product. Rather ironic that I've only seen one bottle of the Westy in my life and exactly the same quantity of this one. It is quite nicely done, if not as intense as a Belgian one; if I ever see any more of these, I'm going to stock up. Alaskan's standard lineup is somewhat pedestrian, but I've frequently been impressed with their Pilot Series, of which this one is a recent example. Another oddity, is that this appears to have been released in the fall of 2025, but has a cryptic date code of "Best by 2025". Hmm. I think this could survive some careful storage for a short while longer. A pleasant surprise; I'm glad I picked it up.

Reddish brown pour, a decent head head, similar color, just vert pale/light, no lacing. Aroma has some fruit and candy, molasses. Flavors are similar, some burnt sugars. This felt thin, but there is some syrup sweetness. Nice beer. As a side note, the label says "strong ale", and that's what it seems to be, but what litleI saw online calls it a Belgian Quad.

12oz bottle; best by 2025
L: deep amber body; very thin beige head
S: caramel, bread crust, toasted grain, fruit, raisin/golden raisin
T: bold flavors as expected: caramelized grain, toffee, bread crust, sultana, plum, prune, earthy hops
F: fuller body, lower carbonation, bittersweet finish with a warming essence from the 10% ABV
O: drinking this on a cold snowy day. It serves as a great winter warmer
