I get the impression that this is the flagship beer of J'ville, but it's not even on Beer Advocate so.... at any rate, brand new brewery in, yes you guessed it, Jacksonville, VT. Shares a building (and I'm sure a lot more) with the Honora winery. Was able to grab samples of both and a few cans to go. This is from the latter.
L - pours a dark murky brown. Pale ale, you say? Solid haze that glows. Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid and used to freeze iced tea ice cubes! Bonus quarter point for nostalgia.
S - immediately get tons of orangey citrus up front, toeing the coriander line. But that aroma quickly turns to ripe berries. White grape juice and passionfruit. Nelson hops, perhaps?
T - more of that juice. Juicy Juice! Grape must and wild berries galore. When I had it on tap, it had much more of a grassy herbal taste. Now it seems with a few days (weeks?) in the can, the malt and hop oils come out to juice to sugar things up a bit. A bit of menthol crab grass bitterness in the very end, but just a touch!
F - on the lighter side, but not watery. Has a creamy consistency that's lighter than 100% juice, but retains the sweet tartness.
O - I liked it more on tap. Herbal, raw, natural, but it's still quite good. An interesting flavor profile and I can't wait to dig into the other cans to see if it applies across the board.
