5X IPA is a Quintuple IPA brewed with Bru-1, Citra, Mosaic, Centennial, and Cascade hops that clocks in at a whopping 17% ABV. Those familiar with our 5X beers will know that despite tipping the scales, it drinks like a beer with half its gravity, and with an expressive bouquet of new world and old school hops it tastes like nothing you've had before. Vibrant, juicy flavors of mango, papaya, candied citrus, and fresh-cut pine envelop you from start to finish, and a crisp, full-bodied mouthfeel helps close out the show.

A: The beer is crystal clear amber yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that left a short head covering the surface and lots of specks of bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of floral hops, orange citrus and passion fruit are present in the nose along with hints of pine.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that there are less flavors of floral and piney hops. There is a light amount of bitterness. Only hints of alcohol are perceptible.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied, very slick and a bit sticky on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a touch of warming from the alcohol in the finish.
O: This IPA drinks incredibly well for a beer that is 17% abv. You can definitely get the sense that it's strong given the full-bodied and slick mouthfeel but it does a very good job at hiding nearly all of the alcohol from the taste.

Curiosity got me to this one. Murky golden amber with a off-white cap. Smell fits the huge resinous ipa with some booze, hop bitters, sweeter citrus flesh and light pine. Taste however shows its warts, booze and hop burn abound for the second half of the sip, prior to there is pine resin, citrus, pineapple, and general dankness. Feel is obviously massive and the finish being so hot is sloppy, feels like the beer was too big for itself. But I had to know!

Holy crap, this is a strong beer. Very reminiscent of DFH 120. Malty and hoppy, bitter and dank, a slight sweetness. Not big bodied, thick, or syrupy. Alcohol is disguised extremely well. Excellent.
