Ah the ol' ropewalk, the rebranded as far as I could tell Bridgeport amber.
Pours true to style, has a dark red bent to it. Beige head 1/3". Aroma of those snappier than normal earthy descriptor red malt and C hop meld in the aroma. Tad of pine to its caramel and toffee stickiness.
Taste isn't as sticky as I thought from the nose. Actually went with a more subdued bitterness, softer body. Even though it still has all the requisite grapefruit and pine hop influence, it hits right in those balanced strides upside the malt body. It was a sign of the beginning of the end for the brewery, they kept going back to the drawing board with artwork and rebranded names, but it was the same step dad tier five styles they kept churning out with nothing to set them apart, much less stay consistent with newer trends that were driving sales. So their english ipas and red ales just didn't stay up with the times, and this was an example of pretty much every red ale being produced at the turn of the century.

I love tasting a beer that I can no longer get because it is no longer made... Farewell good friend, I hardly knew thee.
Appearance: Medium Amber with no head.
Smell: Mild malt with no real hops.
Taste: Somewhat sweet maltiness with mild hopiness.
Mouthfeel: Decent carboanition, lively mouth.
Overall: Pretty simple little beer, nothing outstanding but better than a light beer anyday.

I'd had this in the bottle before, but I have now had it on tap at Bridgeport.
Red amber, it has a thin foamy top soon thinning to a foamy ring and leaving a hint of lace.
Aroma is fruity and malty with some bread and hints of caramelly toastiness.
Taste is mellow, slightly to sweet side but pretty balanced with light bitterness. Malty, caramelly toasty bread dominate with mineral hint and light leafiness. It's nice, soldi, well-made, and very drinkable, but does not seem as exciting as when I've had it in the bottle.

Pours a darker amber with a thin head. Nutty caramel aroma, taste is of caramel with a background of citrus, a good complex maltiness up front that lasts through the taste followed up by a subtle but noticeable bite of bitterness. Mouthfeel is well balanced, substantive but not heavy, drinkability is average to good for the style, this is no session beer but neither is it overly heavy or filling. In summary, a nice and fairly standard amber ale.

Imperial pint glass on nitro at the BridgePort Brewery in Portland.
appearance - frothy, smooth nitro head, sticky lacing, clear amber
smell - sweet floral hops, caramel malts
taste - just like the nose, characteristic nw style hops, floral and resinous, caramel malt body, very light
mouthfeel - light bodied, low carbonation due to the nitro, very natural feel, creamy, soft
drinkability - the nitro showcases the delicate hops and malts, very well balanced, easy to drink, smooth as hell, my first amber on nitro

Tried this on a recent trip to Oregon. Had it on tap with at the Bridge Port Brewpub. Everything about this beer was just "ok" --nothing really stood out. Very thin in feel and flavorless. Maybe a hint of banana? Way too carbonated for my taste. I would not seek out again.

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass.
A: Red tinged amber with a slight chill haze. A soapy cream cap starts small and retreats to a thin film after a few minutes. Leaves bits of lace.
S: Mostly toffee, plus a bit of lemon and a touch of grass.
T: Quite sweet. Caramel and toffee flavors are out front. Bitterness follows with a faintly lemon tartness. Finishes rather clean, with a mild lingering toffee flavor.
M: Light body is a little dry. Carbonation level is only a shade on the high side.
D: Not bad overall. Fairly nondescript, but a good session beer.

Ap - Medium amber brown hue
Ar - Medium malts, candied apple, strawberry banana notes
T - Fruity and mellow
M - Medium weight without anything outstanding or offensive
D - Very smooth and easy
Verdict: A true session style ale. Low(ish) alcohol, low IBUs, and a balanced finish; this is a beer to sip among friends with good conversation but not a beer to sit and critique.

My buddy nate picked me up a bottle from his travels out West.
Pours a clear copper and amber color with a quick head and no bubbling. The aroms has toasted malts givin off sweet cracker notes with just a touch of balancing hops. The taste is vry simple, almost bland. Toasted malt of biscuits and crackers sweet blending with just a splash of sweet citrus hops. The palate is very thin and leaves much to be desired. This beer is easy to drinkk in that its soooo simple and.. quite frankly, lacking in substance.

A: Clear. bright reddish amber color with a little ruby highlight. Poured a 3 finger light tan rocky head with fair retention. Lots of patchy lacing.
S: Lightly sweet malts, hay and grass. Fresh citrus rind zest.
T: Light malts with very muted caramel, nuts and sweet fruits. A little bittering hops to balance (given the light malt charater, it didn't need much).
M: Light body. Balanced carbonation. Smooth and soft.
D: Very drinkable. Not quite what I had expected; I was looking for more malt character.

A good session Amber Ale. A bit on the sweet side fairly low 4.5%abv. Nice color, aroma, minimal carbonation. Probably bought an old bottle. The malts surely dominate this brew. A bit watery probably enhanced by the low carbonation. Little head, no lacings. Would be a good transition beer for friends that drink Bud.
Drinkability rates very well due to the 4.5%abv.

Poured from a brown bottle with cool label art, into my pilsner.
A - Not bad. Translucent oiled bronze. Not too much of a head to speak of, but it laces a touch.
S - Malt, a drop of cirtus, cherries, strawberries, and in the distance, chocolate.
T - Pretty damn good. This beer lives up to its name. It's definitely balanced. The interesting parts are the cherry, and what I can only describe as the dusty chocolate.
M - Nothing to write home about. Passable, but nothing more - to me.
D - Not a bad brew, and I could definitely drink a few of them, but there are certainly others that I would be more excited about.

12oz bottle.
Poured a medium and lightly hazy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, lightly fruity and some caramel. Tastes of caramel, apples, and toasted malts. On the sweeter side. Thin body bordering on watery.

A: fairly light amber color, light red and orange hues. Weak soapy head with touches of lace
S: malts are surprisingly light and fresh smelling with citrus/fruit characters. Sweetness is light and reminiscent of burnt milk-like sugar.
T: Not enough malt characteristics for me and thin and watery at times. Reminds me of summery type of beer. Pick up on cherries and soft fruit connotations touched with caramel/honey. Weak hop presence. I will admit that a lot seems to be going on but not in the right way. Kind of strange for an amber
M: soft on the tongue and rather light body. Easy drinker, I'll give it that
D: tip a few and go about your business. During the process of reviewing this one went to check to make sure I had the right beer name! Sure enough it said "Ropewalk." I was hoping for a bit more more, not a fan!

This was a weird beer. Poured a thin white head that dissipated quickly. Slightly darker in color than icea tea.
Limited smell, mostly malt with a very neutral mouthfeel. Didn't pick up much with these two senses.
Sweet malty finish that eventually turned to slightly bitter in the finish.
Nothing special about this beer until the finish. It's actually not a particularly good beer until the sweet then bitter finish, which saves this beer making it drinkable.
