This traditional German-style black lager combines a malt profile and balanced background of German Hersbrucker and Magnum hops. Upfront notes of toasted grains, coffee and chocolate malts lead to an elegantly smooth finish. This unfiltered style is big on flavour but sessionable enough to keep you coming back for more.

Dark black with good head, roasted malt nose, roast malt taste, smooth porter-like finish. More creamy than crisp on the tongue.

Poured from a 473ml can purchased at the NSLC.
Pours black with a dark cream colored head, and smells of roasted malts with a bit of a fruit scent. Pleasantly light and slightly creamy with good carbonation, and tastes of roasted malts and burnt sugar. A very pleasant, refreshing beer that I would definitely drink again.

Pours a black body with a brown tint and about half a finger of soapy tan head, leaving lots of lacing down the side of the glass. The aroma is dominated by well-roasted malts, with some coffee and smokiness appearing alongside a faint dark fruit scent. The taste primarily features that slightly smoky, roasted malts mentioned earlier, along with some green pepper as the beer crosses the palate. The mouthfeel is fairly moderate on the carbonation, with a decently smooth finish. A fairly good beer, does quite well in the style.

Can: Poured a light black color stout with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes is enticing enough. Taste is a mix of light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes and light residuals sugar notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Easy drinking and enjoyable enough for a style that isn’t brewed enough.
