Our favorite Imperial American Stout Aged on Seneca Sunrise Coffee. Fresh roasted coffee stands out when you first take a sip. Dark and roasty with loads of chocolatey goodness from the combination of roasted barley and chocolate malt. Balanced and rich with a smooth finish. No lactose was used in this beer!

Pours very, very dark golden brown (SRM 34-37). This is essentially black in a PBGC "Subtle" Pint glass. A short-lived, frothy, black walnut head leaves some patches of lace as it disappears.
The aroma starts off with dark roast, followed by coffee grinds and some ash. There is a light soapiness, along with light chocolate. The roasted aromas are just short of burnt, and include malt, coffee, coconut, and white bread, in that order of intensity from strong to mild.
The flavor profile follows the aroma, though coffee is more prominent. Added notes of hazelnuts, pecans, and brazil nuts. Baker's chocolate helps lift bitterness over sweetness in an oscillating opposition up to the finish, which is mild and focused on sweetness with a late bitter jab.
A full body and soft, cushy texture work well with light carbonation. The perception of alcohol is below expectations of 7.2%, and there are some residual sugars.
To me, this seems more akin to what I would expect from a Robust Porter than an Imperial Stout. Regardless, I enjoyed it while reading outside on a hot Sunday afternoon.
