this is a style of beer i am starting to get into more and more, the absence of heavy dark malts allows the flavor of the coffee to be appreciated a little more i think, and something about the pale malt sweetness in beers like blondes and kolsch styles is appealing with the coffee too. this is a pretty good one, a bit rough and heavy for a blonde, but i kind of like that. the coffee is rich and well dosed, tastes fresh, and adds a really cool low end bitterness and earthiness and roast, almost filling in for the dark malts to make this a little stouty. the base beer seems just a little bit sloppy to me, i want a blonde to be a little cleaner and brighter than this, and while i appreciate the body, especially with the coffee, i dont think its particularly dialed, despite tasting good. the success of all this beer is the coffee, fresh and intense in here, creamy almost, and good enough to make up for any shortcomings in the base beer, at least in my opinion. this is my first beer from these guys.
