Finger Lakes Distilling reached out to us to collaborate with them to recreate a beer that was made in the 1930s in Watkins Glen. It is a simple recipe of malted corn and 2 row from our friends at Murmuration Malts in Bloomfield.

Glen Ale is super drinkable and refreshing with a touch of sweetness from the malted corn. It finishes light and crisp with an abv of only 4.2%

Pours a pale yellow. Thin foam. Light malt body. Clean finish. Good flavor. Very simple but a solid brew. Much better than expected.

light and simple, but not boring, even somewhat distinctive for being as minimal as it is, maybe not quite expertly made, but id take the character over refinement in this instance, a pretty tasty and drinkable brew, just my second from these guys. pale straw colored from the tap with a short lived half inch of white head, not quite perfectly clear but close, big bubbles rising up swiftly. this is done with corn, and i like that its appreciable in the aroma and flavor, some soft floral sweetness, earthy cereal character, straight up corn flakes are in fact evident to me, and this is so lightly hopped that the corn element stands out easily without it having to be over the top. there are some minerals to this as well which highlight the grain, the ferment is slightly soapy to me but it does dry this right out at the end, and i dont mind it having a couple of elements apparent, more dynamic than the basic blonde that way, almost a lager aspect to the yeast. slight clover, dried flowers, and hay at the end and as it warms, nice carbonation, very light body, and refreshing without being boring. a slight estery thing to it is a little out of place, but overall i thought this was quite good, and its a solid use of the malted corn. neat little ripper here...
