HOF Assistant Brewer Cassy’s custom blend of 75% Shake Your Mangoes and 25% What Gose Around. Crowler filled by request. Cheers to Cassy for making this one possible.
Hazy saturated orange, visible carbonation, thin layer of foam with drippy halo of lacing around the edges of the glass. After a few sips the foam settles to a patchy atoll of islands in the center.
Aroma is fruity with mango and green strawberry notes, slight cream from the lactose, but the blend adds acidity that lightens it.
Tart and tangy, strawberry mango tea, some earthy greens in the aftertaste from the hops but not a bunch. Overall the blend works well, the fruit, hops, and mild acidity all play well together.
Medium bodied with a lighter feel on the palate due to the acidity and carbonation. Finishes dry with a touch of salinity from the Gose in the middle.
Overall this was a really good blend, and a fun one to try. While it’s a one-off experiment for now, I hope it leads to an official version in the future. Maybe a mango version of Hopcidic Haze, or just a dry-hopped version of this blend would be awesome.
