L: Newcastle-ish brown. 1.5 finger Camel tan head dissipates very quickly. Not sure if this is due to freshness. Lively carbonation can be observed.
S: Deep cocoa. Lightly roasted malts. Not complex at all, but very chocolate forward and enjoyable. You asked for chocolate? You got chocolate. It’s a well balanced aroma that feels like a classic dish done unapologetically well. It didn’t come here to surprise you. It just came here to let you enjoy everything else around you.
T: Initial serving temp is a bit cold. Even so, the first sip is quite nice. That aroma carries through and delivers well. I do like that consistency. Not overly sweet. Just the right amount of maltiness and a crisp, snappy chocolate flavor. This ties in with the aroma so well. This didn’t come to be a head scratcher. Screw trying to impress you with a flavor out of left field. Just be good.
F: Exactly what I would expect from looking at the glass. Carbonation is wonderful for this environment. This beer came to be refreshing and delicious and it does that well. Doesn’t feel thin. Doesn’t feel too thick. Carbonation is pretty spot on.
O: You know what this is? It’s the product of someone saying let’s give people the option of drinking the equivalent of a classic French chocolate truffle on a sunny beach in a Caribbean setting. This won’t win any awards. It won’t get any magazine articles written about it. No one will slide into the brewmaster’s DMs for this one. But is it a solid offering that completely fits the surroundings? Hell yeah it is.
