A very full can, open with care. I popped the ring-pull and the beer is standing above the hole - unusual!
L- Inky black, minimal foam (understandably at this ABV%) bar partial thin dark-tan cap + peripheral ring.
S- Deeply roasty-toasty with a waft of alcohol - no I'm not letting that offend me ;;
T- Woah! Big coffee, charring, a liquor/spirit jolt - I literally shudder! - charring and coffee repeat again. As it warms a touch the liquor note rises - I'd start this chilled as it's not one to rush.
F- It's big but it's done it in a refined way. Nothing offends, or if IDing itself as out of balance. It has a richness but it's not at all outright sweet. This richness balances the quite pungent and the ABV%. [Example: my wife isn't a fan of big coffee notes, here it's fine, even good, as the richness+notable ABV% more than compensate for it :)].
O- Big, bold + ballsy. A big stout which isn't embarrassed to nakedly declare it's ABV% to your tongue.
Bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge £8. 440ml BB: 09/2024 (4 years post canning).
