Pours thick and heavy, although not quite motor oil black; there's a touch of siena brown that distinguishes it from other Dogma stouts. In addition to the color, the half inch of tan head is by far the most carbonation I've seen out of any of the other Imperial stouts I've had from this brewery.

The nose is exactly as advertised. Rich, sweet maple balanced expertly by roasty coffee. The combination of the two smells just like a caramel latte. As it opens, a touch of influence from the malt bill emerges, but it's subtle and not detrimental to the profile at all.

Again, this beer does not let down. Maple and coffee held in perfect check, combining for caramel, vanilla, and toffee flavors. On the base is that very lightly bitter roast coffee, finishing the way it started with a re-emergence of sweet maple syrup.

The mouthfeel on this is viscous and thick, but with a low carbonation that prevents it from being too heavy and syrupy. Residual stickiness in the finish, along with a mild boozy warmth on the tail. This thing is crazy smooth for the ABV, and all-around a great beer from these guys.
