Came here after 3 Stars, and found this place to be a lot smaller and intimate. Room for maybe 30 people, but it was pretty quiet on late Saturday afternoon. Really cool decor, with the theme of animals having people in zoos. A lot to look at and discover, and I don't think I've ever been in a bathroom with a working piano, so you can tinkle the ivories while you tinkle.

Selection is good, with 12-13 taps with a lot of variety. Lots of Belgian inspired beers and quite a few lower ABV ones. Tried 11 beers, and all were very solid, and I especially enjoyed the Berliner Weisses. Service was quick and friendly.

The place doesn't have it's own food preparation, but when we were here they had BBQ, which was excellent.

Overall, a very nice, cozy place with good beer. Probably gets pretty loud when crowded though.

Great beer and brewery-only exclusive riffs on their beers. Friendly staff, generous pours, and trivia on Thursdays. Can BYOFood.

Tucked away in a DC neighborhood. Good vibe, nice selection with pre-filled bottles for takeaway. Tours available and food available when I was there on a weekend.

Was there about 530 on a Friday afternoon (right after the Inauguration, in fact) and there was a couple at a table in the corner and another at the bar. Much quieter and smaller than I anticipated. 20 people in there and it would start to feel crowded. Don't recall music, but if it was there, it was turned way down. What they lack in quantity, they made up for in quality. I think they were training a new guy behind the bar as he was getting peppered with questions about how to make a black & tan, growler fills (namely mine) and general operations. Place like this ALMOST makes me want to live in The District. Favorite surprise was a tap at the corner of the bar facing out that said "free beer" with a stack of glasses beside it. Who can resist this? Not me. Got a glass of fresh water. Ha!

The new location is highly reminiscent of the original brewpub—repurposed wood, murals of animals wreaking havoc on city streets, and creative bathrooms (now with a piano!). The beers are the same blend of intense but sessionable stouts, hop-heavy pale ales, and funky, mixed-fermentation brews. The service is just as impeccable, and they offer the best brewery tour around—most places don't have their head brewer leading tours, let alone sitting down with you for a beer and answering all of your arcane questions about yeast strains, fermentation vessels, and hopping rates. DC's best brewpub is now also it's best brewery.
