Lightly malty and crisp. Generally just tastes like a stronger version of their helles. Both seem to suffer from a bit too much yeastiness and esters. Very drinkable though.

Alewife and I stopped into Idletyme on 26JUL20. We each had two 16oz pours of this, at $7.00 each.
Poured into a standard shaker pint, it was a rich, deep, clear copper libation. Had steady carbo but minimal head, mainly some white rim bubbles, and light lace. Aromas was of toasty caramel and some toffee. Had a medium body, and the prickle factor was relatively low, making for a semi-smooth passage.
Taste had a nice level of sweetness, with more toffee and caramel. Had a touch of Noble spice in the subtle hop finish. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Prosit!!

The appearance was a ruddy burnt amber color with a sly transparency to it. Nice big frothy white head that slid appropriately into the beer. Rimmed semi-ringy lace trying to cling to the glass. The aroma takes on some big sweet to roasty nutty, caramel and toffee malts. Slight grassy hops show some bittering. The flavor yields to the nutty sweetness. Caramel and nutty malts slide on into the background. Well blended from the grassy hops to the malts in the aftertaste leading on into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation, feels good flowing onto my tongue, rich smoothness. Overall, pretty nice Oktoberfest/Maerzen that I could have again.
