Bottle gifted from a friend in November, stored appropriately for three months. Pours out of the bottle a surprisingly golden hue (I was expecting a darker shade) with minimal head. Aroma is toasted malt, dates, caramel, oak. Taste is candied fruit, figs, sweet malt, bitter hops, wood and bourbon. The booze is a nice complement to the base beer. Nice sweet, bitter and boozy profile that coats the mouth. Drinks way too easily for a 9% beer. Kudos to the brewers for coaxing out the barrel and bourbon character without going into double-digit ABV.
