On tap at Brewyard Beer Company in Glendale, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, cocoa powder, and roasted nut aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, char, and nut flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice mix of roast, cocoa, and nut that works together slightly better in the smell to me.
