Pours a medium to dark orange red with a half finger tan head that dissipates to patches with nice lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, red berries, light stone fruit, bourbon. Flavor is dry caramel malt, bourbon, cranberry, plum skins, red grapes. Bourbon and fruit finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A nicely made domestic quad with a solid whiskey barrel character. Quite a bit more fruity and a somewhat less malty than a traditional quad, but that could be a result of the aging; it's been a while since I've had a barrelled one. The bourbon notes are clear, but not overpowering. A light, somewhat astringent vinous quality in the finish probably attributable to the bourbon and barrel wood. Nicely done, glad I ran into this. Has held up to a year or so of aging well.
