This light colored yet inebriating Belgian ale was originally crafted by the Trappist monks at Westmalle. Ours keeps the tradition alive with a smooth, rich blend of fruit esters and sneaky-high alcohol content.

Minimally hazy burnt yellow nearing orange with a puffy off-white head leaving coral webbing on the glass.

This is pretty delicious with only mild phenol accents, more readily exuding pear, apricot, passion fruit and Curacao with hints of clove and ginger.

Easily one of the better entries stateside, it's more forward of brighter, fruitier esters not unlike Karmeliet, instead of trouncing you with any of the toasty or boozy qualities you often find on this side of the pond.

I had this beer on-tap in a tulip at the brewery in Tempe. When I had it, the menu said 9.56% ABV.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a hazy body and a finger of frothy ivory foam atop leaving a nice lace on the glass.

Smell: malty and sweet with some orchardy fruitiness to the aroma. I like it.

Taste: very malty with an almost vanilla-like character. A little bit boozy, but not off the charts. Kind of unique among the tripels I've had, and not too bad.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess. Less than I like in a tripel, but not terrible.

Overall: a solid tripel, if not an exceptional one.
