Aroma is chocolatey and roasty.

Flavor reveals a slight metallic note, with a roasty base and dark cocoa notes. Lacks a bit in depth and body, but decent flavor.

Appearance - Very dark amber, barely translucent. Like black coffee. Moderately carbonated.

Smell - Sweet, malty, and a bit of chocolate.

Taste - Good balance of sweet/maltiness and bitterness. Chocolate and biscuit notes as well. Fairly well carbonated for this style. A little light on the mouthfeel.

Overall - Pretty good, especially at this price point. Not the most complex, but a very drinkable porter.

Dark, dark brown beer with a thick, fluffy head that dissolves in under a minute. Has an aromas of nutsan and something that falls amid caramel, toffee and molasses. It's somewhat bitter and tastes of roasted nuts and dry caramel. One of the more sessionable porters I've had.

12 FL.OZ. bottle
Served in a perfect pint glass

A - It looks dark enough sitting on my desk, but when held to the light it is a dark rust color with amber highlights. It is the lightest porter I have ever seen. There was an inch of tan head that disappeared quickly.

S - I get some cocoa and some nutty aromas. I also get some sweet caramel malt.

T - The taste is sweet. I taste the caramel, and it finishes with a nutty brown ale flavor.

M - Moderate

O - I think if this beer was labeled as a nut brown ale it would be closer to the mark. It has almost no qualities of a porter. It's a decent brown ale and an utter failure as a porter.

12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a mostly clear dark brown/reddish color with about a half inch light tan head. The head didn't stay around for too long, and there isn't much lacing. The brew smells like roasted/caramel malt, nuts, and a bit of chocolate. Taste is the same as the aroma, it tastes like roasted and caramel malt, nuts, and some chocolate. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's a bit slick, and it's smooth and easy to drink. To me it seems more like a brown ale than a porter. Overall, it's not a bad brew, just decent. Can't complain since I bought only a single of this. Worth a try!

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Dark amber/brown in color, with a decent head of tan foam.
Aroma-Faint toffee, caramel
Taste-Caramel, dark malt, faintly sour, dry finish. Thin-bodied, and rather weak-kneed for an American porter. Much better, and just as affordable porters to be had.

It's got the classic dark look that is pretty transparent, a light head for a dark beer. It smells pedestrian - middle-of-the-road roasted malts, caramel sweetness. The taste is the only real issue. It is very forward with cloying caramel, presumably from an excess of caramel malts. Not a lot of the roasted/coffee notes that I have come to expect in a porter. It has a decent mouthfeel, fairly light and dry, smooth. Overall, it's an easy drinker, with some enjoyable qualities, but it is very run-of-the-mill, and quite unspecial.
