Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a brick red-mahogany color with a tiny fizzy off white head. The head fades very fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is sweet and rich with lots of wonderful gingerbread smells. There are big aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg as well as a good showing of a molasses and caramel sweetness. Very much like a gingerbread cookie.
Taste – The taste follows the nose very well. It begins with a sweet brown bread taste that is a bit of the doughy side. The sweetness is predominantly of a molasses flavor with some other caramel and lighter in nature dark fruit tastes of plum. Along with these flavors comes some spice of nutmeg, gingerbread, and clove. The spice are light upfront, but get stronger as the taste advances with the cinnamon soon becoming the predominant spice flavor. All the flavors combined rather well at the end and leave one with a nice sweet, but pleasant gingerbread like cookie flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather light. For the cookie like gingerbread flavors the feel is very nice and makes for a nice easy sipper.
Overall – This is a very tasty gingerbread cookie brew. Sweet, but not overly so with a very well done spice and sugar profile.
