Poured from a can into a snifter
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown chocolate color with a tiny brown fizzy head. The head fades super fast leaving no lace on the sides of the glass. Upon swirling the glass thick fingers of the brew cling to the sides of the glass slowly receding back to the bulk of the brew. Overall it looks thick and big.
Smell – It straight up smells like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The peanut butter is on the slightly sweeter side while the jelly smells like grape jelly. Along with these smells comes a little bit of a roasted malt and caramel smell as well as a touch of coffee. Quite inviting overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a quite roasty flavor mixed with just a little bit of peanut butter upfront. Right at the start there is also quite a bit of sweetness, being of a brown sugar and molasses taste mixed with some flavors of a light char. While lighter upfront, the peanut butter rally amps up in intensity as the taste moves forward, and toward the end becomes one of the more dominant tastes. At the same time the jelly flavor that was hinted at in the nose begins to develop, combining very nicely the pb to generate a nice bready pb and j sandwich like taste. Toward the very end the sweetness gets a bit stronger and along with a bit of heat from the alcohol coming to the tongue, one is left with a very rich and creamy peanut butter and jelly sandwich like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is super thick and chewy with a very low carbonation level. For the big peanut butter and jelly flavors, mixed with the sweet, roast and large abv., the feel is fantastic and makes this a very slow and well accentuated slow sipper.
