Bought a 16 oz. can at The Casual Pint in Virginia Beach, VA. The can listed the ingredients as yuzu, ginger and msg. I had to look up yuzu. Supposedly it is a fruit cultivated in Asia and has lemon and grapefruit characteristics. Sounds about right for the flavor here. I have no idea what msg tastes like. I just know it as the ingredient in Chinese food that raises your blood pressure!!! Poured into a flute glass, this beer featured a clear gold head on the first pour with a good level of carbonation....bubbles on the side of the glass and a fizzy, fast fading white head. No lacing to speak of. Subsequent pours showed a hazy, apple cider colored body. Aroma and taste are not traditional gose-like. Basically, the citrus fruit and ginger are the strongest elements. The flavor is quite good and this makes for a fine summer beer. Mouthfeel is sour/tart based on the lemon and grapefruit like fruit. The ginger provides a nice spiciness to accompany the fruit. Mouthfeel is fairly light but packs a good flavor and sourness note. No gose saltiness that I could detect. No wheat bitterness either. Flavoring is hardly subtle like a traditional gose, but still a good pleasant taste. I would drinkthis one again.
