Appearance: a clear(ish) pale yellow color, with a sticky off-white foam head.
Aroma: West Coast blended with East Coast. Tropical fruit, grapefruit with grape notes. Mellow pine resin.
Taste: Boozie up front, a little grapefruit and citrus peel in the mid, finishes dry and bitter. Very drinkable considering the ABV.
Overall: Very good. Aroma is incredibly complex and balanced. The taste is more West Coast style with strong alcohol notes.

2-month-old can poured into a tulip.
I don’t understand all the negative reviews/ratings, especially for a big ABV beer, which are usually graded too high because folks tend to appreciate boldness above quality. But I think this is a really solid beer. Perhaps the hybrid nature doesn’t work for some?
Crystal clear (refreshing approach) and one of the lightest IIPA’s I’ve ever seen, with an extremely pale straw coloring. Honestly looks like a lager or saison. Small bright white head that provides decent spotty lacing. A few swirls of the glass brings some nice foam and some hefty alcohol legs. Certainly leans West Coast but you’d never know this was a 9% beer.
Smell is a wonderful mix of West and East Coast, leaning more towards the latter. It’s restrained and subdued for a IIPA (especially at 9%), but really clean and well balanced. Lots of citrus, tropical fruit, and grape notes, plus a nice blast of dank grass, pine resin, and grapefruit pith. A little malty sweetness to keep it honest. Quite lovely, and not at all in your face.
Taste follows but leans back towards West Coast and is even milder than the aroma profile. I can’t believe this is a 9% beer, save for a small amount of pleasant alcohol vapors I get in the palate — almost gin- or (good) vodka-like. Bitter and resiny with a lot of grapefruit pith. But balanced with that same malty sweetness and some background citrus and tropical fruit notes. Incredibly easy-drinking.
Feel is a touch light in general and unbelievably smooth for a 9% IIPA. Zero heat or burn. Goes down so silky. Very dangerous.
Not breaking new ground and it won’t blow your socks off. But this is a really well done IIPA that works well as a slow supper on a hot day when you want to drink something with some substance. Well done, in my opinion.
