This tart German wheat ale is refreshing and light, with notes of orange peel and lemon. It’s less sour than a typical gose, with more emphasis on maintaining a medley of all its ingredients. This beer is kettle-soured from the addition of Lactobacillus cultures during the brewing process, which gives it that tang and tart punch. Named in honor of the German auto shop that occupied our space before us.

It’s always nice to find a simple, unfruited Gose. And on this rather warm day off of work I find myself with, there really isn’t a better option to compliment the weather. Let’s see what Lamplighter’s take on the style is all about
Pours a cloudy pale yellow with 2 fingers of creamy white head that fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
It’s quite bright in the nose, with a nice fruity acidity. I’m picking up on aromas of lemon zest, crackery malt, coriander, floral hops, white pepper, and light honey
The quality dips a bit in taste, feeling a bit flabby and closer to a Wit than a Gose. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting lemon zest, floral hops, sea salt, wheat bread, and light apple skin. The swallow brings notes of coriander, earthy wheat, candied lemon, floral hops, and honey
A light body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes sadly flat and somewhat lifeless
This isn’t awful, but it’s certainly not great. I’m looking for more tartness and salinity in the style, not all earthy coriander. Oh well

Pros: better pour than more Goses. A light yellow color in a Gose glass with a 2F head. Most Goses tend to pour more of a head.
Cons: there should be coriander in the aroma, more fruit in the taste.
The body is too watery, and there is no tart, salty finish.
Overall: okay, but doesn’t measure up to others in the Gose style.

A: The beer is slightly hazy pale yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a minuscule collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of lactobacillus are present in the nose along with hints of sour lemons.
T: The taste follows the smell and is mostly dominated by sour flavors of lactobacillus and has hints of lemons and wheat with bits of saltiness in the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied and a little tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: With the lower amount of sourness, this gose is almost effortless to drink and has refreshing properties. It would make for a thirst quenching selection on a hot summer day.

Workin hard in the attic, warm day, good day for a light gose. Canned 9/28/17
Pours a light fizzy head that fades quickly over a crystal clear tan honey color
Nose very yeasty and doughy, lots of acid, lemon tartness, sour acetic acid, but also some unpleasant solventy notes, apple cider vinegar, fruity
Taste is very tart, sour apple cider and a bit of lemon, yeasty bready doughy malt and wheat, creamy lacto sour, acetic lemony acid, a touch of coriander spice, maybe a faint hint of salt but barely, a bit of flemmy finish
Mouth is a bit thin and watery feeling even for a gose, carbonation is a bit light too, very sour acidic and a touch flemmy
Overall not a great gose, perhaps a bit too old, but shouldn't drop off that much, esp the mouth, I know they make good beer so this is just a bump in the road, but still not really a BAD beer.
