Alyosha is Trappist style Enkel brewed with pilsner malt, wheat, and Saaz and Grungeist hops. The Abbey yeast contributes notes of fruit and spice, while a soft and supportive malt palate balances the floral hop profile.

NO can date
Pours a large pillowy frothy almost 2 finger rocky head with good retention and soapy lacing, slight hazy light watery-lemon-yellow color
Nose nice Belgian esters, pome fruit and some lemony notes, sweet lemongrass and grassy doughy malt, light cereal grain, creamy wheat, and light floral fruity herbal hops
Taste more Belgian esters, pome fruit, lemony, citrus, little candied orange and lemon/lime zest, cereal grains, a little doughy wheat, touch biscuity like but soft and creamy, light herbal spicy hops and a bit fruity, medium bitterness with good balance, although I think the bitterness gets a bit too aggressive overall, mild spice notes as well, drier finish but a bit sticky
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy, medium to med-high small bubble fizzy carb
overall not bad, enjoyable, bitterness gets a bit harsh but mostly balanced, nice Belgian yeast additions and fruity esters overall, good summer beer.

Alyosha smells like herbs and tangerines, and it tastes citrusy, with notes of lemon and orange. It’s a crisp, light beer that packs a lot of flavor without losing any of the lightness.

Three-finger starting head with a slow fade. Plenty of small streaks and spots as the head goes down. The liquid is whitish, straw color. Cloudy.
The smell starts out with dry pale malt, but becomes earthy quickly. I also note some lingering alcohol in the background.
Good Belgian yeast bite but it's not too strong. It creates a white pepper finish. The flavor up front is smooth and malty.

Poured a very light golden color in an Orval Trappist glass with a 1/2 head which resolved quickly.
Mild fruit and spice aroma.
The taste is also mild fruit and spice. It is overwhelmed by a bitter finish.
The beer would have been more enjoyable if the fruit and spice notes were more prominent. The bitterness could have been more subdued.
I’m a big fan of this brewery, and their style approach is never cookie-cutter. Perhaps a revised recipe.
