Sometimes you just need a mid-afternoon pick me up, and this coffee Milk Stout was calling my name. I see a lot of Lamplighter's stuff on the shelves and it's pretty rare I go for it, but this one just sounded nice and simple. Let's crack it open and see what it's all about
Pours almost completely pitch black with 2 fingers of creamy tan head that slowly fades to a thin ring and leaves minimal lacing
Oh yeah, this is certainly coffee-forward in the nose, but it's more complex than just coffee. I'm picking up on aromas of dark roast coffee, black cherry, burnt caramel, oak smoke, dark toast, cocoa powder, light molasses, and raisin
It remains quite similar in taste, though maybe a touch less sweet. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting medium roast coffee, brown sugar, black cherry, raisin, burnt caramel, vanilla, light toast, cocoa powder, and raisin. The swallow brings notes of dark roast coffee, molasses, brown sugar, burnt caramel, raisin, black cherry, cocoa powder, light smoke, and toast
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a slick beer with a bit of a snap. Finishes mostly dry and drinks closer to 5% than the listed 8.4%
This is damn solid stuff. A very easy drinking Milk Stout

Pours a medium foamy frothy mocha coloured head, jet black color with decent legs
Nose brings big coffee, freshly roasted ground coffee, a bit nutty, earthy coffee, a bit fudgey, cocoa, mild smokey hinting at bacon, touch of caramel, sweet candy smokey, roasty
Taste brings coffee up front, fresh nutty coffee, a little charred and smokey again, not quite bacon but smokey meat character, little chocolate and fudgey, big creamy oats, touch of spices, lactose sugar, fair bitterness from roasted malts and mild spicy hops, a bit of spicy alcohol flavor, drier finish but a little sticky residual sugar, lingering smokey roasty malts
Mouth is fuller bod, rich creamy lush chewy, light alcohol warmth, medium high fluffy carb
Overall pretty good, smokey flavors and alcohol spice get a little overboard, but otherwise nice

Very tasty coffee stout!
Lots of coffee and chocolate flavor, dark roasted grains. Smooth creamy body (oats?), moderately low bitterness.
Overall a solid beer, worth seeking out again!
*Edit: This beer has lactose, according to a brewery employee.

Opaque midnight chocolate color with a thick 2F head. Spiegelau Stout glass.
Retention- average.
Strong roasted malt aroma, with warming milk-chocolate and roasted malt nicely layered.
Very smooth creamy MF. Heavy as suits the style.
Layers of chocolate and roasted malt in the taste.
Excellent breakfast stout. A lot different than other beers I’ve tasted in the style. Heavier, creamier, more pronounced roasted malt. Best at 45°.

strong pour with a nice dark tan head that fades a little too quickly. Smell is a up front is roast and little alcohol and leads to spice Mexican hot chocolate. Taste is strong roast note a litte acid (like diner coffee) but in a good way. Overall a solid beer on a cold night and but drink a little thin. Some more creaminess on the finish could push this one over the top.
