Zoomed Out is an American Double IPA brewed with Citra, Hallertau Blanc, and Nelson Sauvin. This hop blend lends bold notes of zesty citrus, black currant, and tropical fruit, complemented by a bitter backbone and dry finish. Keep cold, shut off your webcam, and enjoy fresh.

I haven't had a new Lamplighter beer in what feels like a really long time, and this one is quite apropos due to its awesome label/name combination. People are all "Zoomed out" these days, and I just found the label art amusing. I mean, it definitely doesn't hurt that it was canned about three weeks ago (not bad at all) and features a cool hop combo: Citra, Nelson, and Hallertau Blanc.
The pour here is a bit brighter and more vibrant than I expected, but I guess it's not billed as a NE Double IPA, so I guess that's fair play. It has a hazy, nearly-opaque body for sure, but the way light shines through it gives it a slightly blush/bellini-like look to it that is nice. The head is fairly-dense, measuring about two fingers upon first pour, and it can be easily re-roused back to a finger or so of suds. As this foam dissipates, it leaves behind some drippy lace while displaying decent legs and good surface coverage. A nice looking modern mostly-hazy IPA.
This hop combo is fun as hell because of the interplay between the dank, grassy, playful elements of Nelson and the tropical juiciness, blackcurrant, and grapefruit like notes brought on by Blanc when combined with Citra. Immediately upon bringing it to my nose, I'm hit with funky, lightly-tart gooseberry, rye-like spice, floral notes, tangelo, guava, and passion fruit. It's a lot to experience and it does seem instantly like there's only a slight focus, but it does become a bit clearer eventually. The grassiness and interesting berry/wine grape notes eventually come together with some of the floral elements to build up a very unique and still distinctly "IPA"-ish scent. I'm impressed... hopefully it's as good tasting as it is good smelling!
My first sip is crackery grains and rustic spice, again, though these are quickly bludgeoned by a positively-intense hop approach that blends tangerine, papaya, guava, and passion fruit with gooseberry, tart white grape skin, and a light, funky dankness. Honestly this is really great. It reminds me of something Hill would pull off with these hops, and the overall quality of the drink is pretty damn close to that legendary brewery as well. Perhaps some of the minerality here could be pushed a bit more, as Nelson can sometimes push some unusual elements in that vein. A nice, soft, fairly plush bigger IPA with a good feel and a smooth finish that still has some oomph to it. I would like more of this!

Poured from a can, super-fresh from the brewery dated 8/20/20
Looks a hazy yellow-orange with a dense, full white head that fades to a fine layer and leaves a coarse sudsy lacing.
Smells hoppy, with grapefruit juice, citrus rind, pith and resin. A bit tropical.
Taste is more hops, mainly grapefruit pith and resin, a bit of herbal green bitterness. Light grains for the malt base. Spicy finish.
Medium body with prickly combination of carbonation and bitterness. Hops are sharp and prominent.
Overall a good double IPA! A bit different from the usual NE-style, with enough bitterness and bite to keep it exciting. Glad I picked it up, always happy to see what new recipes Lamplighter comes up with!

Can date smudged
Pours a smaller fizzy head with lower retention and a little lacing, hazy almost cloudy golden color
Nose brings tropical fruit and citrus, some pith, white grape skin, a little musty tropical Nelson, lemony and grassy, hint of grapefruit zest, little grainy malt
Taste light malt character, cereal grain, wheat maybe, plenty of juicy hops, citrus, lemony, more dank tropical and musty notes, lemongrass, grapefruit, tangerine, more of the white grape wine, and a little passion fruit, light bitterness, a touch of alcohol flavor, drier finish, bit more bitterness, hops getting a touch spicy and grassy
Mouth is med bod but feels thin for what it is, a little alcohol warmth, med foamy carb
Overall pretty good, nice hops, could have used a bit more malt base and body, but still good.
