i liked the funky lamplighter beers we had in this session a whole lot, this is sour, but its good, packed with peaches, aged in chardonnay barrels, and a mixed culture ferment, really interesting and rather well done, even if its a tad rough around the edges, it could be slightly cleaner, more carbonated, and vibrant feeling, but the aromas and flavors are awesome, and i think this might have a bit of age on it. hazy and pale, washed out looking with a light orange tone, very short and short lived white head. the nose on this is cool, mouthwatering to me, juicy ripe peach for sure, a ton of white wine, chardonnay specifically, acidic for sure, wheaty and a little raw underneath, tons of fruit, some lemon too, bacterial more than bretty, definite oak character too, oddly light as well. the flavor is great, a little less pronounced than the nose, a bit of a grain stew at its core, definitely wheaty and a little hefty up front, but then the fruit starts, fuzzy and juicy yellow peach flesh, peak of the season ripeness to it, washed out kind of fast by more acidity than it needs, but there is some complexity too, a light estery note, some white pepper and green pear in there, some sweetness from the peaches, an apricot and a mango, even an orange note in there as well with the peach, and then a whole lot of white wine, some tannins and tang there too, sweet wet oak, vanilla, straw and grass, and some young funk on the back end with all the piquant sourness, its bracing at first but it settles in as more balanced after a few sips. this could use a little more carbonation, its not as uplifting as i want it to be in terms of feel, and so it lingers some, warms up weighty with the grain, and just doesnt quite pop, but the flavors are delicious overall. i like the obvious use of real fruit, the way the peaches go with the white wine, and how low alcohol this is. thankful to have been able to share in this bottle and many others if interest from these guys, really cool brewery!
