super cool to get to drink a couple bottles from their membership series, i think thats what these luminary society beers are anyway, this one from all the way back in 2019, a blended funky thing, tart and bretty, old now in the best way for a beer like this, all kinds of yeast and oak nuance, yet also quite drinkable too, i think well aged at this point, probably peaking. this is pale, golden, even so slightly cloudy toward the bottom of the bottle but still bright, and really frothy headed. aroma is tangy but not super acidic right away, some old musty brett and decaying wood right away, a belgian yeast type ester, dried apricot, golden raisin, and mango fruitiness is all there, a little honey sweetness, some fading malt that fits right in, and a white wine layer, quite dynamic, yeast driven, and interesting. some lemon character and some pucker up front, elderflower and honeysuckle herbal vibes too, old brett thats coming through kind of horsey now, white pepper, coriander, preserved lemon, and light white wine vinegar at the end, but not anywhere near as sour as the peaches bottle we had in close proximity. sturdy wheat grain base here, starting to oxidize just a touch, still with some mid palate sweetness and a bready depth, and there is a nice hearty oak profile all through this which is so compatible with each element, unifying. awesome bottle conditioned carbonation, a little late bitterness as it warms, some astringency, and it dries out at the end. delicious and unique blend here, mature now, intriguing on the fermentation side, id love to dip into a bunch more of these old luminary releases!
