Deep magenta brown color where light only passes on the extreme edge of the glass. Minor head but it holds up a long time and leaves a thick ring of lace with streaks thereafter.
Lots of raisin and alcohol. The smell is similar to an aged barley wine. The sour notes only show up on subsequent whiffs.
The sour is right up from the start. The sweetness present fades away quickly making the beer almost lip smackingly tart by the swallow. The body is fuller than most sours and with less carbonation. The finish is similar to grape tannins and lasts long after the swallow. In the background there are berry flavors.
