A single finger head that does off quickly to no bubbles at all. No lace naturally. Light doesn’t shine through but I’m not sure if this because of the color or muddiness.
Boozy, semisweet chocolate, graham crackers, and most faintly, stone fruit.
The flavor is rich, like the body (with a muted carbonation). I don’t get any Belgian yeast on the tongue. Instead, it’s mostly darker chocolate. There’s a brandy-like finish from the high alcohol level. This is an unusual Quad due to the dark color and chocolate flavors. It’s, to me, closer to a barleywine. Still, it’s a good beer.
